Bihar News: The Bihar unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has suspended former Union minister RK Singh from the party. The action was announced on Saturday, a day after the BJP emerged as the largest party in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections with 89 seats. Party MLC Ashok Agarwal has also been suspended.
According to the suspension letters, both leaders have been removed from the organisation for what the party described as “anti-party activities”. Singh, who has represented Arrah in the Lok Sabha and Agarwal have been accused of repeatedly making statements that went against the party line. The BJP said such conduct affected internal discipline and required immediate action.

The party has asked both leaders to submit their explanations within a week. They have been told to clarify why further disciplinary steps, including expulsion, should not be taken.
The Hindustan Times report cited People familiar with the internal matter as stating that, the decision against Singh was influenced by multiple complaints received during the run-up to the Bihar polls. Singh had reportedly criticised party leaders and was seen as acting against the party’s interests. He had publicly raised objections to certain candidates from the NDA alliance.
In October, ahead of the elections, Singh posted on Facebook urging voters not to support candidates with criminal records. The message indirectly targeted several NDA candidates, including JD(U) leader Anant Singh and BJP’s own Samrat Choudhary, who currently serves as Bihar’s deputy chief minister.
A copy of the letter shared by ANI stated that Singh’s behaviour amounted to a violation of party discipline, “Your activities are against the party. This falls under violation of party discipline. The party has taken this matter seriously, and it has caused harm to the party.”
The letter further says, “You are being suspended from the party and asked to explain why you should not be expelled. You are directed to clarify your position within one week of receiving this letter.”
The BJP has said it will review further action after receiving responses from both leaders.
