The Urban Development and Housing Department has initiated approvals for constructing administrative buildings in newly established municipal bodies across Bihar. Orders have been issued to build such facilities in 12 of the 120 newly formed municipal bodies, including Akbarnagar, Pawapuri, Katoria, Sheikhopur Sarai, Parbatta, Hasanpura, Itadhi, Kako, Muraul, Ghosi, Chandi, and Saraiya.
In addition, administrative buildings will also be constructed in three existing municipal councils—Teghra, Ballia, and Shivhar—which currently lack dedicated office infrastructure. Urban Development Minister Jivesh Kumar stated that construction of permanent administrative buildings will commence soon to accelerate urban development.
Kumar emphasised that municipal bodies currently operating out of community centers, block offices, rented spaces, or temporary buildings like Kisan Bhawan have been instructed to submit detailed proposals to the department, including land information, Nazri maps, and no-objection certificates.
Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh informed that to build an administrative office, a Nagar Parishad requires 16,000 sq ft of land, while a Nagar Panchayat needs 10,760 sq ft.
The estimated cost for administrative buildings in Nagar Panchayats is around Rs 2.49 crore, whereas for Nagar Parishads, it's approximately Rs 4.98 crore. Preparations for construction have already been finalised.
