With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching in a few months, the Nitish Kumar government has approved recruitment for over 3,000 posts across various departments to provide employment opportunities for the youth.
The cabinet’s decision was taken during a meeting on Tuesday, and notifications for these jobs are expected to be issued soon.

Department-wise Job Details:
- Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department: Creation of 1,800 academic and non-academic posts up to the 10+2 level in 40 new residential schools.
- Art, Culture and Youth Department: 25 posts in two new sections – Cultural Programmes and Accounts & Budget.
- Bihar Prosecution Service: 760 new posts to strengthen the prosecution service following the implementation of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023.
- District Sainik Welfare Office: Various posts for the functioning of 13 existing and 12 new offices.
- Agriculture Department (Directorate of Soil Conservation): 47 posts, including 1 Statistical Assistant and 46 Junior Engineers.
- Prohibition and State Narcotics Control Bureau: 88 new posts and 229 transferred posts.
- Law Department: 49 posts, including 34 in various categories and 15 for the ‘Suvas Cell’.

The government’s initiative is seen as a move to attract the youth ahead of elections, though uncertainty remains over the STET and Librarian examinations. Candidates are also awaiting the BPSC TRE 4 teacher recruitment notification.
The Bihar government has upgraded revenue employee posts to state-level, allowing transfers across any district. Eligibility for these posts has been raised to a graduate degree, with the age limit increased from 18 to 21 years.
Amins (surveyors) will now be eligible for promotion to Grade One and Head Amin. Additionally, All India Services officers posted outside Patna will be entitled to government accommodation for one year.
