The Bihar government is set to inaugurate the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa in Vaishali — a significant site in Buddhist heritage — by the end of this month.
Constructed to preserve Lord Buddha's sacred relics and promote Buddhist tourism, the state-of-the-art facility has been built at a cost of Rs 550.48 crore on a sprawling 72-acre land near the revered Pushkarni pond and the ancient Mud Stupa.

To mark the grand inauguration, the Building Construction Department has invited Buddhist monks from 15 countries, including China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bhutan, Mongolia, Laos, Nepal, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia, Burma, Cambodia, Tibet, and Malaysia. A large gathering of monks and international delegates is expected at the event.
The centrepiece of the museum will be an urn containing the ashes of Lord Buddha, discovered during the 1958–62 excavation of King Vishal's fort. The urn will be enshrined on the first floor of the stupa, making it a sacred pilgrimage destination for Buddhists worldwide and a major draw for spiritual and cultural tourism in Bihar.
