More than 2,500 solar street lights are being installed each day across Bihar's villages under the Chief Minister Rural Solar Street Light Scheme, as per the latest government review. This was revealed during a virtual meeting chaired by Panchayati Raj Department Secretary Manoj Kumar on Wednesday. The meeting included Deputy Development Commissioners, District Panchayat Raj Officers, and Additional CEOs of the District Councils.
Purnia district has emerged as the top performer, achieving 99 per cent completion in solar street light installations over the past 20 days.
During the meeting, the Secretary issued strict instructions for legal action against agencies that fail to fulfil their contractual obligations related to streetlight installation. He also reviewed progress on the construction of Panchayat Government Buildings, directing officials in Patna district to expedite land selection in Gram Panchayats where it is still pending. Site inspections must be completed before construction begins.
In addition, the Secretary emphasised the need to accelerate spending under the 15th Finance Commission and 6th State Finance Commission grants, urging faster execution of public welfare schemes. The review also covered updates on pending judicial cases, utility certificates, and the functioning of Panchayat e-Gram Kachharis.

Director Prashant Kumar CH and Special Secretary Preeti Tongaria were among the senior officials present at the meeting.
