In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor smuggling under the Bihar Liquor Prohibition Act, Jehanabad police seized 952 bottles of English liquor from a Swift Dzire car near Shahbazpur on the four-lane highway.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rajiv Kumar Singh reported that acting on intelligence about a large consignment being transported, the Kalpa police station established a checkpoint and intercepted the vehicle.
The driver, Lakshman Kumar, a resident of Jaganpura Shahpur in Patna district, was apprehended. He is suspected to be part of a gang linked to several recent liquor seizures in the Shakurabad area and other locations. The confiscated liquor, totaling 356 liters and manufactured in Jharkhand, was allegedly destined for sale in Patna.
This operation underscores Bihar's stringent enforcement of its liquor prohibition laws. Authorities continue to intensify efforts to curb illegal liquor trade, appealing to the public to support the state's commitment to a liquor-free Bihar.
