Bihar Murder Case: Gopal Khemka, a prominent businessman was shot dead near his residence in Patna in the late hours of Friday. A CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), in which the assailant is seen standing near the deceased's residence, apparently waiting for his arrival. As the businessman arrived near the gate of his residence in his car, the assailant approached and shot him. The accused, covering his face with helmet, could be seen fleeing the spot on his bike just after the incident.

The incident has created panic among the locals and other businessmen, drawing a major criticism from the opposition leaders. The video also show the other two people hopelessly dialling some phone numbers to seek help. However, the businessman apparently died on the spot as the bullet was fired from a very close range.

The officials stated that the incident occurred near the 'Panache' Hotel when the businessman was on his way to home. While exact reason behind the murder is not known yet, the officials assured that a probe has been ordered into the case.

"On the night of 4 July, around 11 PM, we received information from the Gandhi Maidan South area that businessman Gopal Khemka was shot dead. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the hospital and the crime scene. The area has been cordoned off, and an investigation is underway. CCTV footage is being examined. Further action will be taken," Diksha, City SP Central, was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The Bihar police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case. Earlier almost three years ago, the businessman's son, Gunjan Khemka was also murdered. Several opposition leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav have criticised the law and order of the state.
