Bihar News: The residents of Dhobauli village of Gayghat, Bihar, have started collecting donations for the construction of a bridge over the Bagmati River, aiming to improve connectivity to NH-27 from Bandra block and the Pusa area of Samastipur. This move comes after waiting for over three decades. The Sarpanch of Dhobauli village said that many leaders had given assurances for the construction of the bridge during elections, but after winning, they did not consider it necessary to construct the bridge.
The villagers have taken the after into their own hands. Along with Dhobauli, residents of Brahmotara and Kakariya villages are also actively cooperating in the construction of the bridge by collecting donations. In a strong statement, the villagers have imposed a ban on the entry of political leaders on the bridge. In addition to this, they have also banned the entry of political leaders into the village until the government officially approves the bridge project.
According to the villagers, the estimated cost to build a bridge over the Bagmati River is about Rs 10 lakhs, Jagran.com reported. The major move by the residents of Dhobauli village comes after over three decades of waiting.
According to the villagers, former MP late Captain Jai Narayan Nishad was the first to promise the construction of the bridge. After him, his son Ajay Nishad also became an MP twice, but the work did not start. Furthermore, during the Assembly Elections, Maheshwar Prasad Yadav, Veena Devi and Niranjan Rai also assured construction of the bridge, but this promise also remained confined to paper only.
“After the construction of the bridge, people going to NH-27 from Bandra block and the Pusa area of Samastipur will get direct benefit. The distance will be reduced by about 15 kilometres,” a villager said.
