Heavy rainfall in Bihar's Kaimur district triggered flood-like situations, submerging several buildings, including the Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School and Community Health Centre (CHC) on Wednesday. Kaimur administration and volunteers rescued over 90 girl students and patients from the flooded buildings. More than 400 students from DAV school in Bhabua were also rescued after its campus, situated on the banks of the Survara river, got submerged.

The incessant rainfall caused widespread damage in Kaimur district, with several buildings, houses and offices being submerged in floodwaters. Properties worth lakhs of rupees including medicines, computers, electric equipment and records of the health centre got damaged due to flood waters.

Several houses were submerged, forcing people to come onto the Bhabua-Adhaura road with their cattle. The local administration, led by District Magistrate (DM) Sawan Kumar and Superintendent of Police (SP) Lalit Mohan Sharma took stock of the situation and provided relief to the flood victims.

The rescued students and patients were shifted to safer places and eleven medical teams have been formed to tackle the situation. The district magistrate also directed local officials to provide food and other necessary items to the flood victims.
