In a move to enhance public access to policing services, Bihar Police will launch a Citizen Service Portal by August 20, offering 12 online facilities, including e-complaint filing and tenant verification. Senior citizens can also register themselves and request police assistance when needed, announced State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) ADG Amit Lodha at the Police Headquarters on Monday.

Key Services on the Portal:

-Download FIR copies

-Submit confidential tips

-Access details of notorious or wanted criminals

-File e-complaints (login required)

-Report missing persons or property (login required)

-Verify tenants, domestic help, drivers (login required)

-Report unidentified bodies or persons (login required)

-Access arrested/wanted person info and recovered property details

ADG Lodha clarified that login will only be needed for services requiring personal information, like filing complaints or registering missing reports. For senior citizens living alone, the portal will allow them to notify the police when stepping out of the house.

CCTNS Integration and Tech Upgrades:

-968 police stations in Bihar are already linked to CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Network Tracking and System).

-The remaining 373 new police stations and OPs will also be connected soon.

-So far, 1378 zero FIRs have been filed through CCTNS since July last year.

-Bihar is now among the top 10 states nationally in CCTNS implementation.

Camera Installations and Digital Evidence:

-CCTV cameras have been installed in 1212 police stations and OPs. The remaining 176 locations will soon be covered.

-Over 27,883 pieces of evidence have been uploaded on the e-Sakshi app, with 10,880 linked to FIRs.

-Bihar's Pragati Dashboard has a success rate of 87 per cent, placing the state at 11th nationally.

To speed up digital adoption, an e-signature system for police officers is being developed. Training for SPs and prosecution in-charges on e-summons and other digital tools is also underway.
