The Bihar Assembly Election results came as a huge disappointment for Congress, which won only six seats, while contesting as part of the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan.

Congress had contested 61 seats, but its conversion rate fell to less than 10 per cent. Congress top brass, including Jairam Ramesh and Rahul Gandhi, have raised concerns with the results, alleging vote rigging and unfair elections.

Reacting to the results, Rahul Gandhi said, "This result in Bihar is truly surprising. We could not achieve victory in an election that was not fair from the very beginning. This fight is for the protection of the Constitution and democracy. The Congress Party and the INDIA alliance will deeply review this result and make their efforts to save democracy even more effective."

Jairam Ramesh said, "Undoubtedly, the Bihar election results reflect large-scale vote theft orchestrated by the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and the Election Commission. The Indian National Congress reiterates its resolve to continue its campaign to protect the Constitution and save democracy with even greater strength."

However, the discontent within the Congress party has also been evident over the results. Several leaders have described it as a complete organisational failure, while others argue that the Congress party's role in the coalition has been reduced to that of a supporting party.

Senior Congress leader and former governor Nikhil Kumar said this exposes the party's organisational weaknesses. In every election, a party's biggest strength is its organisation.

He said that when the organisation is not strong and cannot function effectively, it is natural for results to suffer. Our candidates were qualified, but there could have been better candidates.

Anand Sinha, a former IPS officer and son of former Chief Minister Satyendra Narayan Sinha, commented that the organisation should have acted with more understanding and strategy.

"It was essential to maintain a strong presence in every constituency. This is clearly a failure of the organisation. I can say with confidence that if our organisation had been stronger, the results would have been very different," he said.

Congress leader Mumtaz Patel, daughter of the late Ahmed Patel, also offered an honest response. Posting on X, she wrote, "No excuses, no blame, no introspection; now is the time to look within and accept the truth."

Countless loyal grassroots workers, who have stood by the party through thick and thin, will wait for success when power is concentrated in the hands of a few individuals who are completely disconnected from ground realities and are responsible for the repeated downfall and defeat of this great old party.

They will be doomed to failure. And mark my words, these same people will be rewarded again and again because they have made themselves indispensable through their control and power.
