Bihar Ambulance Rape Case: In a shocking incident, a woman participating in a Home Guard recruitment drive in Gaya ji, Bihar was allegedly gangraped on a moving ambulance, triggering outrage in the poll-bound state. The woman was sexually assaulted by the driver and the technician while being transported to a hospital after she collapsed during a physical test during the recruitment drive at the Bihar Military Police grounds in Bodh Gaya on July 24.

The participant fainted while undertaking a physical endurance test, part of the standard procedure for recruitment, said police.

Gaya ji Police Arrest Two Accused Within Hours

After the horrific incident, the Gaya ji Police succeeded in arresting two accused within two hours of receiving information about the crime. Taking immediate cognisance of the incident, the Gaya Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), formed a special investigation team under the guidance of the City Superintendent of Police (SP) and led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Bodh Gaya. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was also dispatched to the scene to collect evidence.

With the help of CCTV footage from the venue, police identified the accused. Police gained crucial details after examining the CCTVs installed in locations where the ambulance travelled.

Police said the victim underwent a medical examination before fiing the case. They also recorded her statement. Based on this and other evidence, an FIR was registered. Following the FIR, police launched a quick manhunt to nab the accused.

Subsequently, they caught them within two hours of the beginning of the search operation.

According to police, the accused were identified as Vinay Kumar (ambulance driver) and Ajit Kumar (technician).
