In an unfortunate incident, a decomposed body of a woman was found at the premises of the under-construction Patna Airport, raising concerns in the neighbourhood. The body was found in a drain water pipe at the under-construction new terminal of the Patna airport, officials said on Sunday.

Providing additional details, the police officials said that they were in the process of ascertaining the identity of the woman, who prima facie seemed to be between 35 and 40 years of age.

SDPO-1 (Sachiwalay) Anu Kumari said that the police were informed at around 7.10 pm on Saturday that a body was noticed inside the pipe. The airport police reached the site immediately thereafter.

She said, "Officers of the Airport police station immediately reached the spot, and after cutting open the pipe, recovered the body of the woman," she said.

Speaking about the discovery of the body, an officer of the Airport police station said that the body was spotted during inspection of the drainage system. The police have registered a case, and the body was sent for a post-mortem.

He said, "A case has been registered, and the body has been sent for the post-mortem examination. The case is being investigated from all angles. Efforts are on to ascertain the identity of the deceased," he said.

"Those working at the site are being questioned. Besides, statements of contractors concerned are also being recorded," he added. 

In another incident on Sunday, a police officer shot himself dead in Bihar's Jehanabad. The victim, identified as Vinod Chaudhary, was a resident of Paraiya village in Gaya district.

The police and forensic team are investigating the reason behind the drastic step. As per a report by Jagran.com, his wife died a month ago due to illness after which he was living in stress.
