Verification of Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) applications from students enrolled in colleges affiliated with BRA Bihar University (BRABU) is stalled. The colleges have not yet appointed nodal officers for the verification, preventing the process from starting.
Due to this, the Secretary of the Education Department, Ajay Yadav, has sent a letter to the Registrar of BRA Bihar University. The letter states that the department had recently requested records related to the verification of PMS applications, but these have not yet been received.
The secretary's letter reiterated that to provide scholarships to students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, and Extremely Backward Classes, all applications submitted online must be verified and approved by the college's nodal officer within 15 days. Following this, the applications are to be scrutinised by a physical verification committee formed by the district's DPO. However, the institutions concerned are not cooperating.
The Education Department has asked the university to appeal to the nodal officers of the concerned colleges to cooperate in the verification process so that applicants can benefit from the post-matriculation scholarship in a timely manner. This matter must be treated as a high priority.
Notably, the Post-Matric Scholarship applications of students enrolled in several premier colleges of BRA Bihar University have been pending for months. As a result, they have not yet been able to receive the scholarship benefits. Students have complained about this to the District Education Department on several occasions.
