Bihar residents, preparing for the Chhath Puja won’t face harsh cold temperatures during the early morning prayers during the traditional festival as milder-than-usual temperatures are predicted for this week. Meteorologists stated that the state, including the capital Patna, is experiencing warmer-than-average conditions due to the absence of western disturbances.
Though the onset of November typically brings cooler weather, this year’s conditions remain unpredictable, causing concern among locals preparing for Chhath festival rituals. Unusual weather fluctuations, including morning fog and possible rain, have left some residents uneasy as they prepare for Chhath Puja.
Although cloudy skies are expected, the Meteorological Department has ruled out significant rainfall but predicts a potential temperature drop. A brief fog is expected to affect mornings, with a possibility of light rain in select areas like West and East Champaran in the north-western parts of the state, the meteorological department said.

On Sunday, several parts of the state witnessed a drop in temperatures including Patna, where the temperature fell by 1.3 degrees Celsius, reaching 29.4 degrees Celsius while Sitamarhi recorded the highest maximum temperature at 34.5 degrees Celsius. Visibility dropped on Sunday morning until 7:30 am in several areas due to fog, while strong sunlight kept the daytime warm.
Despite the warm daytime temperatures, mild cold and fog in the early hours are beginning to appear. While the overall temperatures may remain higher than usual this week, a slight cooling trend could occur later in the month due to cold winds.
