In anticipation of the upcoming Durga Puja festivals, the Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (PESU) has initiated extensive safety and maintenance measures to prevent electricity-related accidents.
Dielectric paint will be applied to electricity poles to ensure they do not become live, while feeders, transformers, poles, and wires are being repaired and inspected. PESU is also monitoring illegal connections, which can overload transformers, and taking special safety measures at worship marquees (pandals) and other crowded areas.

According to PESU General Manager Dilip Kumar Singh, all 33 kV and 11 kV feeders are being inspected. Trees near feeders and LT lines are being trimmed, and jumper cables are being repaired. The Mechanical Repairing Team (MRT) is inspecting and repairing power transformer breakers and other electrical equipment at all substations.
Maintenance work is also underway on 11 kV and LT lines around the festival pandals. Bare wires are being replaced with aerial bunched cables and covered conductors, while distribution transformers associated with Durga Puja venues are being carefully inspected. Transformers in highly crowded areas have been fenced for safety, and Sub-Main Distribution Boards (SMDBs) and service wires are also being checked and repaired.
Singh added that efforts are ongoing to improve Patna’s electricity supply system, including the installation of 61 compact 990 kVA transformers, the construction of four new substations, and the laying of underground and covered cables.
With these preparations, PESU aims to ensure a safe and uninterrupted power supply during the festive season.
