The public may soon benefit from improved connectivity with the Bhangel Elevated Road, expected to open this month. However, markets and roads beneath the elevated structure in Baraula, Bhangel, and Salarpur are unlikely to see any relief, as work on the road, central verge, and drains below is projected to be postponed until March 2026.
This information emerged following an RTI filed by Dr Ranjan Tomar, president of the Gram Nivasi Sangh (Village Residents’ Association), with the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation (UPSBC). Dr Tomar had questioned the delay, noting that the Noida Authority had previously claimed work under the elevated road had begun.
According to the UPSBC response, while the construction below the bridge is part of the agreement with the Noida Authority, approval for the work has not yet been granted. The Corporation noted that “deviations are being observed in the quantity/additional work items”, which are under review and may be approved soon.
The UPSBC confirmed that all work under the bridge, including the drain, central verge, and road, is proposed to be completed by March 2026 once the necessary approvals are granted.
This delay has been a setback for local markets, which have long awaited relief. The Noida Authority is urged to expedite approvals so that work below the elevated road can commence without further delay. NOVARA has repeatedly emphasised that the completion of the work beneath the bridge should meet the stipulated deadline.
