With the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system, consumer-driven Bihar is now earning an annual revenue of Rs 30,000 crore, marking a significant leap in state income. Speaking at the GST Day celebration on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who also heads the Finance and Commercial Taxes Department, called GST a product of the BJP-led government’s “entrepreneurial vision.”
Samrat highlighted that Bihar’s tax collection, which stood at Rs 20,000 crore in 2017-18 before the implementation of GST, has surged to Rs 41,623 crore in 2024-25. He credited this growth to the efficiency and dedication of honest and hardworking tax officers.
