A state-of-the-art library, run by Jeevika (Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society) on the premises of the Dehri block office, Rohtas district, is shaping the futures of students from rural backgrounds. Providing facilities on par with urban centers, the library offers free access to books, digital learning material, and high-speed internet, enabling students to prepare effectively for academic and competitive exams.

According to Jeevika representative Vidya Devi, the library currently benefits around 1,200 students. Each day, 45 students attend in scheduled batches to utilise the extensive collection of resources and the unlimited internet access for their studies.

One of the library’s standout features is its weekly webinars, where expert career counselors interact with students to help them discover their interests and offer personalised career advice. These sessions aim to guide rural youth toward opportunities in education, employment, and entrepreneurship, while also encouraging them to explore new, skill-based technologies.

The library houses over 600 physical books and a wide array of digital study materials. These include textbooks, resources for competitive exam preparation, and current affairs magazines, ensuring comprehensive support for students at various educational levels—from high school to graduation.

Officials highlight that ‘Didi Ki Library’ is proving to be a valuable resource for students in Dehri block and nearby areas. Along with improving academic knowledge, the library environment promotes critical thinking and debate among students, helping them grow intellectually and socially.

Started under the World Bank-supported Jeevika initiative, ‘Didi Ki Library’ aims to bridge the educational gap in rural regions, making quality learning accessible to all.

"This initiative is helping rural youth take confident steps toward brighter futures," said Vipul Pandey, BPM, Jeevika.
