On Monday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the long-awaited Mithapur-Mahuli elevated corridor, a key infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity between the main parts of Patna and its southern regions. The newly opened 6.75 km elevated stretch, running from Sipara to Mahuli, significantly reduces travel time to just five to six minutes. This section, built between Bhupatipur and Punpun along NH-22, was completed for Rs 1,105 crore.

Following the inauguration, the Chief Minister engaged with local residents at the site and stopped at Punpun to check on the well-being of the people. Expressing his deep connection with the area, Nitish Kumar assured continuous efforts for the development and welfare of the region, urging everyone to live together harmoniously and progress collectively.

The elevated corridor will not only facilitate smooth travel within Patna but also improve connectivity to several neighbouring districts, including Gayaji, Jehanabad, Arwal, Aurangabad, and Rajgir. This development is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in the city and save significant commuting time for lakhs of residents in southern Patna.

While returning, the Chief Minister was informed about the ongoing construction of the elevated section above the Sipara bridge, which will connect to the Mithapur flyover at the roundabout. He instructed officials to complete the remaining work within the next two months.

The inauguration event was attended by Child Rights Protection Commission member Shiv Shankar Nishad, various public representatives, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Road Construction Department Mihir Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister Kumar Ravi, and Chairman of Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited Shirshat Kapil Ashok.
