Muzaffarpur Metro Project News: The route and stations for the proposed Muzaffarpur Metro Rail Project have been finalised, featuring two corridors spanning a total of 21.2 kilometres. The first corridor of Muzaffarpur Metro will extend 13.85 km from Harpur Bakhri to Ramdayalu Nagar, incorporating 13 stations while the second corridor will cover 7.40 km from Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) to Muzaffarpur Junction, with seven stations.
The project, with an estimated budget of Rs 5,359 crore, aims to benefit approximately 60 per cent of the city’s commuters by providing faster and more convenient transportation. The initiative is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity across Muzaffarpur.
Prepared by Rail India Technical and Economic Service (RITES), the metro proposal has been discussed extensively with local public representatives, urban planners and other stakeholders. During a joint meeting at Nagar Bhawan on Saturday, RITES officials explained the proposal in detail and sought feedback. Suggestions included extending the metro to Turki and Mushahari block in future phases to address growing passenger demands.
