The much-awaited Patna Metro project is progressing at full speed, with the state government targeting the launch of its first metro service by August 2025. The initial phase will see metro trains running between five elevated stations, from Malahi Pakdi to the New ISBT, providing quicker and more efficient travel options for Patna’s residents which will ease commuters.
Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitin Nabin visited the construction site of the priority corridor earlier today and directed officials to accelerate their work. The minister expressed confidence that Patna would be ready to welcome metro services by August 2025, providing a much-needed solution to the city’s growing traffic issues.

Once operational, commuters will be able to travel from Malahi Pakdi to the Bairia Bus Stand in just 15 minutes, which directly saves travel time. This metro service will slightly help in reducing the pressure on Patna's roads while providing better connectivity to the city's key areas. Minister Nabin also revealed that most civil work for the priority corridor is complete, and currently, the focus is on laying tracks and procuring the necessary train sets. Electric and telecom signalling systems are also set to be installed soon.

During his inspection, the minister also visited the newly constructed Patna Metro depot near the Bairia Bus Stand. The depot will feature a test track for trial runs, and it will be responsible for the washing and maintenance of the metro trains. A control system will also be set up at the depot, making it the operational heart of the entire metro network.
In a related development, a review meeting was held to speed up the metro's construction process. Chaired by Abhay Kumar Singh, Managing Director of Patna Metro, the meeting included officials from both Patna and Delhi Metro. It was confirmed that the priority corridor, stretching 6.5 km from Malahi Pakdi to ISBT, is set to open by mid-August 2025.

Two Metro Corridors In Patna
The Patna Metro network will feature two main corridors. The East-West Corridor, which stretches 16.94 km from Danapur to Khemnichak, and the North-South Corridor, covering 14.45 km from Patna Junction to New ISBT. A total of 24 stations are planned across both corridors, ensuring smooth travel for passengers across the city.
With the metro service on the way, Patna is set to see major improvements in its transportation infrastructure, making travel faster, easier, and more efficient.
