Patna News: A group of men armed with sticks and rods entered parks across Patna on Valentine's Day, delivering a clear message: "Do not celebrate it." The men, associated with a fringe group known as Hindu Shiv Bhavani Seva, were vocal in their opposition to the day, chanting slogans such as "Stop spreading obscenity in public places."

Footage from the scene showed the group shouting slogans as they moved through different parks, urging couples to leave. “Valentine’s Day is a Western tradition. We will not allow its influence to grow under any circumstance,” they declared. The group also told youngsters to “"You all should go home and remember Pulwama heroes,” instead of celebrating.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Pulwama attack, which resulted in the deaths of 40 soldiers when a Jaish-e-Mohammad suicide bomber targeted a CRPF convoy on February 14, 2019.

The protesting group clarified that their opposition was not to love itself but to what they termed "obscenity" associated with the celebrations.

In a related incident in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, two organisations—the Bajrang Dal and the Bharatiya Sufi Foundation—also voiced their disapproval of Valentine's Day. They argued that the celebration represents an alien culture that does not fit within Indian values. The Bajrang Dal formed twelve teams to monitor the city, with an additional twenty teams covering nearby districts. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Sufi Foundation expressed concerns that Valentine's Day misguides young people.
