Patna Metro Expansion: Patna's metro network is on track to reach a key milestone, with the metro service from Bhootnath Road to Malahi Pakdi stations expected to begin after December 20. This new service will connect five stations, offering much-needed relief to commuters in East Patna and helping to ease traffic congestion in the area.
As reported by Jagran.com, Patna Metro has already garnered positive attention since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the service between New ISBT and Bhootnath Road on October 6. The project has been well received by residents, with over 94,000 passengers having used the metro service to date.
More than 90 per cent of the construction work for the Bhootnath Road to Malahi Pakdi stretch is now complete. Malahi Pakdi station is fully ready, and work at Khemnichak station is progressing rapidly.
Final preparations, including testing, signalling, and safety checks, are currently underway. Once these procedures are completed and operational approval is granted, the new section will be officially launched.
The extension of metro services between Bhootnath Road and Malahi Pakdi will provide residents in East Patna with quicker and more convenient access to key areas in the city.
Patna Metro: Which Stations Will Be Connected in the New Phase?
The five new stations that will be connected with the upcoming extension of Patna Metro from Bhootnath Road to Malahi Pakdi are:
- Bhootnath Road
- Khemnichak

Underground Metro Construction Speeds Up
Work on the underground section of the metro, stretching from Malahi Pakdi to Rajendra Nagar, is also advancing quickly. This phase of the project is scheduled for completion by June 2026, with construction of tunnels, stations, and safety features moving forward without delay.
The tendering process for track laying in the underground stretch from Rajendra Nagar to Patna University is currently in progress. Once the tender is awarded, construction work will ramp up in this section.
In addition, soil testing is underway at 12 locations along Nehru Path, to a depth of 50 metres, for the underground sections of the metro between Rukanpura and Patna Junction.
