Swati Maurya, First Woman Loco Pilot Of Patna Metro
The Patna Metro stood out for various reasons, but the most significant aspect was a woman loco pilot who has been entrusted with the steering wheel of these metros. Swati Maurya will be the first woman loco pilot for Patna Metro. A graduate of the Patna Science College, Swati has been working for the Delhi Metro since 2011.
She is on a 32-month long deputation along with 33 of her colleagues from the Delhi Metro who will oversee the smooth functioning of the metro run in the capital. Women loco pilots have also been deployed in the Pune Metro (Line 3).
Patna Metro has also provided employment opportunities for the people of Bihar, as most of the people employed by the metro corporation are residents of the state.
Patna Metro Coaches: Key Features
The newly launched metro coaches are adorned with traditional Madhubani paintings, showcasing Bihar’s rich cultural heritage. Stickers on the windows, doors and interiors feature iconic landmarks such as Golghar, Mahavir Mandir, the Bodhi Tree, Buddhist Stupa, and Nalanda ruins.
Each coach can accommodate up to 945 standing passengers and has 138 seats, with 12 seats reserved for women and persons with disabilities. For passenger convenience, charging points for mobile phones and laptops have also been installed in every coach.
