Who Is Maithili Thakur?
Born on July 25, 2000, in Benipatti, Maithili Thakur is a trained Indian folk and playback singer who was appointed as the ‘state icon’ of Bihar by the Election Commissioner. One such emotional incident is related to Shabari. Listen to how Maithili Thakur ji has put it in her melodious tunes."
For her contributions to the folk tradition of Bihar, Thakur received the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar in 2021 from the Sangeet Natak Akademi. She was also the recipient of the Cultural Ambassador of the Year Award at the inaugural National Creators Award on 8 March 2024.
