Bihar: A video has gone viral on social media when a piece of Patna's freshly constructed double-deck flyover apparently crumbled due to prolonged heavy rainfall, sparking new safety worries about the infrastructure.
The double-deck flyover in Patna was newly built at a cost of Rs 422 crore. It was inaugurated by Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on June 11, 2025, and spans the congested Ashok Rajpath corridor.

The double-deck flyover consists of two tiers. The upper deck spans 2,175.5 meters and transports passengers from Gandhi Maidan to Science College. The lower deck is 1,449.3 meters long and facilitates vehicle movement from Patna College to Gandhi Maidan, near BN College.
According to TOI, both decks, which are 8.5 meters wide, connect to PMCH and are intended to reduce traffic congestion in the city.
Officials say Ashok Rajpath will soon have four levels: two flyover tiers, a ground-level service road and an underground metro.
Patna has had immense rainfall in recent days, resulting in serious flooding in several key neighbourhoods, including Kankarbagh, Rajendra Nagar, Exhibition Road, and Gandhi Maidan. Waterlogging has disturbed daily life by flooding roads, residences, hospitals, and schools, causing traffic havoc and a local breakdown of drainage systems.
