Incidents of short-circuits in train coaches, sometimes due to open panels and other times due to poor wiring, are being taken seriously. In response, the Samastipur Railway Division has decided to inspect the wiring in all coaches of the trains that operate under it. The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Samastipur, Jyoti Prakash Mishra, has issued orders to the concerned officials regarding this.

This step was taken after a recent incident. Notably, on August 25, smoke suddenly started coming out from an electric panel late at night in the AC coach B-5 of the SwatantrataSenani Express, which runs from Jaynagar to New Delhi.

An investigation found that a rat had entered the panel, causing a short circuit. This filled the coach with smoke and created panic among the passengers. Later, a mechanic who was on the train fixed the problem. Many passengers captured the incident on video with their phones and made it go viral on social media.
