Gold Rate Today: Gold prices in the domestic futures market fell by around 1.5% on Wednesday, i.e. April 23, a day after gold prices surpassed Rs 1 lakh per 10 grams mark in the retail market of cities like Delhi and Mumbai. At around 11:11 AM, the Gold Future contract for June 5 expiry was trading at Rs 95,969.0 on Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), down 1.41% against the previous day's closing price. The future contract opened with a decline of Rs 840 at Rs 96,500 per 10 grams on MCX today and extended the decline to touch the low of Rs 95,457 per 10 grams in early trade.

Gold Rate Surpassed Rs 1 Lakh Per 10 Grams Mark On Tuesday

The rally in gold prices on Tuesday was followed by trends in global markets where prices exceeded $3500 per ounce, fueled by concerns over the US President Donald Trump's criticism of Federal Reserve Chair, dampening risk sentiment and driving investors towards safe-haven assets like bullion and in anticipation of higher demand during Akshaya Tritiya.

Gold Price Today In India

The gold price in the retail market followed the line of the future market as it fell significantly on Wednesday after touching the Rs 1 lakh mark for 24k purity on Tuesday. According to GoodReturns, the rate for 24k gold fell below the 1 lakh mark at Rs 98,350 per 10 grams, falling Rs 3,000 from the previous day's price. At the same time, the rate for 22k gold is Rs 90,150 per 10 grams.
