Stock Market Holiday: The Indian stock market extended its positive momentum for the third consecutive session on Friday, with the Bank Nifty reaching a record high of 57,830.20. The Nifty 50 gained 124 points to close at 25,709, while the BSE Sensex rose 484 points to finish at 83,952.

With Diwali 2025 approaching on 20 October, some investors may be unsure about market timings. The BSE and NSE will operate normally on 20 October. However, both exchanges will remain closed on 21 October for Diwali Lakshmi Puja and on 22 October for Balipratipada.

How To Check Stock Market Holidays On BSE Website 

1. To avoid confusion, investors are advised to visit the BSE website-bseindia.com.

2. Click on the 'Trading Holidays' option at the top of the page.

3. The complete list of stock market holidays for 2025 will be displayed.

4. In October 2025, the stock market holidays are: 2 October for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti/Dussehra, 21 October for Diwali Laxmi Pujan, 22 October for Diwali Balipratipada.

5. This confirms that the Indian stock market will remain open on Monday next week.

Stock Market Holidays In Oct And November 2025

In 2025, the stock market will observe a total of 14 holidays. In October, the market will remain closed on 2 October, with the next holidays on 21 and 22 October. After these dates, only two more holidays are scheduled for the year: 5 November for Prakash Gurpurab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev and 25 December for Christmas.

Stock Market Timings For Diwali

Indian equity markets are open Monday to Friday from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM. On regular trading days, a pre-open session runs from 9:00 AM to 9:15 AM. The market remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

Muhurat Trading Session On Diwali 2025

On 21 October 2025, a special Muhurat Trading session will be held from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM, giving investors a chance to take part in the traditional Diwali trading ritual. A pre-market session will run from 1:30 PM to 1:45 PM.

Last week, the major Indian stock market indices maintained their positive momentum. The Nifty 50 rose 1.68 percent, while the BSE Sensex gained 1,450 points. Among sectors, Capital Market and Realty outperformed, climbing 5 and 4 percent respectively, whereas Media and IT lagged, falling 2.4 and 1.8 percent.
