Tata EV HPCL Agreement: Tata Passenger Electric Mobility on Wednesday said it has signed an agreement with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd to set up 5,000 public charging stations across the country by the end of this year.
The collaboration leverages Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited's (HPCL) fuel station network to help around 1.2 lakh Tata EV owners frequently visit unit locations, Tata would install chargers there, said Tata Passenger Electric Mobility in a statement.

The company said that the two organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding in this regard. Both companies are also planning to introduce a convenient payment system via a co-branded RFID card, which will provide a hassle-free charging experience.
HPCL has a network of 21,500 fuel stations across the country and aims to install 5,000 electric vehicle charging stations by December 2024, said the company.
"This strategic partnership with HPCL emphasizes our dedication to advancing India's EV ecosystem in which the growth of charging infrastructure plays a pivotal role. This collaboration is essential for facilitating infrastructure development to support the expanding EV customer base," Balaje Rajan, TPEM Chief Strategy Officer said.
Debashis Chakraborty, Chief General Manager (Retail Strategy & BD), HPCL said that through this alliance, the PSU will leverage Tata Motors' vehicle base and deploy EV charging infrastructure at locations with high charging demand. Will enable strategic expansion.
