The Uttar Pradesh Yogi Aditya Nath's government has given relief to the entrepreneurs operating in 154 industrial areas of the state from paying double tax. Now they will not have to pay separate taxes to UPSIDA (Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority) and Municipal Corporation. In addition, the government has also handed over the responsibility of maintenance of all industrial areas to UPSIDA. The related proposal of the Industrial Development Department was approved in the Cabinet Bicirculation on Tuesday.

154 industrial areas in Uttar Pradesh come under UPSIDA, Industries established in these industrial areas will have to pay maintenance charges only to UPSIDA. Till now this system is applicable only in Noida Authority. After the implementation of this decision, UPSIDA will be responsible for the maintenance of industrial areas, road construction and providing all related services.

There was a long-standing demand to end the tax system

Earlier, due to the responsibility of both Municipal Corporation and UPSIDA, the maintenance of industrial areas could not be done properly, and both departments used to blame each other. All the entrepreneurs of the state have been demanding to end this dual tax system for a long time.

What is UPSIDA?

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) is a state-owned enterprise that promotes industrial infrastructure development and industries in Uttar Pradesh. The functions of UPSIDC include:

- Developing and managing industrial areas
- Allocating industrial land
- Providing financial assistance to industrial units
- Organizing industrial training and development programs
- Equipping industrial areas with infrastructure such as roads, sewers, power transmission lines, and streetlights

Established in 1961, UPSIDC is headquartered in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Some of the industrial estates developed by UPSIDC are Trans Ganga and Saraswati Hi-Tech City, Plastic City, Agro Park, Apparel Park, and Leather Park.
