Ashes 2025-26, Australia vs England 2nd Test: England's Will Jacks produced a moment of magic to get rid of Steve Smith during their ongoing second Test in the Ashes 2025-26 at The Gabba in Brisbane on Friday, December 5. The brilliant piece of fielding gave England their second wicket in just four deliveries on the second day of the pink-ball Test, pulling them back into the contest during Australia’s first innings.
England are in desperate need of a breakthrough as Cameron Green launched a counterattack, with Smith looking solid at the other end. Just as Australia neared the 300-run mark, Brydon Carse ended up breaking the partnership with Green's wicket. The star all-rounder missed out on his fifty and was dismissed for 45 runs in the 57th over.
Carse continued his short-ball attack on Smith and bagged a huge success later in the same over. The right-arm pacer bowled a bouncer, leaving Smith in a bit of discomfort. The senior Aussie batter tried to control his shot but ended up hitting towards Jacks at short fine leg, forcing him to dive full length to his right and pull off an incredible acrobatic catch. Jacks' one-handed incredible catch dismissed Smith for 61. The stand-in Australian captain smashed five fours and two sixes.
It takes a humongous effort to dismiss a set Steve Smith! 🤔🧐
