Ashes 2025: England's star fast bowler Mark Wood has revealed that he might play in the third Test match against Australia in Adelaide, which will be held later this month, and that realistically, he would only be available for the Boxing Test and the last Test match, and all of this only depends on when his knee is without a brace. Wood had to undergo surgery on his left knee as he was seen limping in the Champions Trophy earlier this year, and it was the first time in 15 months that he had played in the longest format in the first Test match.

He had bowled 11 overs where he went wicketless and then had to consult a specialist owing to a recurring injury, and has been seen wearing a knee brace since then.

“I think there is a chance there, but more realistically, it is probably more Melbourne and then [Sydney] after that… I need to get out of this [brace] first to get moving around," Wood was quoted on Channel 7.

“Throughout my career, I have tried to show resilience and keep coming back and keep trying to push it where I can bowl faster and faster, but I am getting older now," he added.

“I don’t know if my body isn’t coping with it as well [as it used to], but I will keep trying. That is something I pride myself on, to keep running in for the team and be a good team man," he said.

“I have had a couple of injections, resting up and slowly but surely, running will start soon, then back into bowling," he added.

The visitors made just one change in their playing XI for the ongoing Test in Gabba as they had included Will Jacks for the first time since 2022, who has replaced the injured Wood.
