Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne faces potential disciplinary action after a contentious argument with an umpire during a T20 Max semi-final match between Redlands and Valleys at Allan Border Field last Friday.
During a T20 Max semi-final clash, Redlands captain Labuschagne was engaged in a heated exchange with the umpire on a not-out call after a bump ball ruling.
As per various media reports, Labuschagne was asked to move on, but the batter continued to dispute with the umpire, opposing the judgment which went in the opposition's batter Hugh Weibgen's favour, who was caught by wicketkeeper Leigh Drennan.
A video by Kayo showed Labuschagne engaged in an animated conversation with the umpire, leading the official to consult and report the incident after the over end. Subsequently, he received a level 2 charge for dissent, indicating that Labuschagne was formally cited for dissent.
In the argument, Labuschagne did not use foul language. He is expected to face a tribunal hearing this week, which is likely to result in a suspension. Nevertheless, even if he gets a domestic suspension this will not impact his availability for the upcoming England ODI series.
However, the dissent charge against Labuschagne may impact his participation in domestic cricket participation, likely to affect his captaincy role in Queensland in the upcoming Sheffield Shield season.
Furthermore, a suspension could restrict his availability for the match, despite not affecting his international plan.
