Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja received overwhelming support from the home crowd at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai during the clash against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday.

Jadeja, who is an integral part of the franchise, received loud cheers of 'Jaddu Jaddu' in the eighth minute of the encounter. As per social media posts of the CSK fans, the tribute was planned to honour Jadeja's contribution in the IPL 2023 final against the same franchise as he smashed a six and a four in the last two balls to hand CSK their fifth IPL title.

The 35-year-old dons a no. 8 jersey and it is understood why Chepauk spectators selected 7:38 PM, the eighth minute of the clash, to honour the star player.

Coincidently, CSK opener Rachin Ravindra also smashed six and a four at 7:38 PM to add to the celebrations.

The official handle of the CSK also acknowledged the support from fans and celebrated the success of 'Ravindra' in the post.

In the repeat of the last edition's final, newly-appointed captain Shubman Gill won the toss and asked CSK to bat first.

The runners-up did not make any change in their playing 11 while CSK replaced Maheesh Theekshana with another Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana in the side.

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra gave a thundering start to the franchise in the powerplay overs. Both openers smashed identical 46 runs each before returning back to the pavilion. In the middle order, Shivam Dube played an electric knock of 51 off 23 balls laced with five sixes and two fours.

In the last few overs, debutant Sameer Rizvi smashed two sixes to contribute 14 runs in six balls while Daryl Mitchell and Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 24 and seven runs respectively.

CSK posted a massive total of 206/6 in 20 overs. Gujarat Titans will require 207 to continue their winning campaign in the tournament.
