IND vs WI 2nd Test: Ex-India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar failed to control his emotions when Yashasvi Jaiswal came for the post-match chat on day 2 of the ongoing Test against West Indies, where the ex-cricketer told Jaiswal to keep batting consistently. Jaiswal was trying to smash a double against the West Indies during the first innings.
He was involved in a terrible mix-up with Shubman Gill, which ended his stay at the crease, and he got out at 175 runs off 258 balls, where he had smashed 22 fours.
On the second day, Jaiswal was seen in conversation with the broadcasters, and Gavaskar didn't hold back, giving the youngster a suggestion.
IND vs WI, 2nd Test: LIVE SCORE
“Well done, and I absolutely enjoyed your batting. Don’t mind how it ended, but we love watching you bat," Harsha Bhogle was heard as saying on air.
“I just want to add to that. Well done, keep it up. Keep getting the hundreds. Daddy hundreds, but because I am a grandfather, I will say keep getting granddaddy hundreds," Gavaskar said.
Jaiswal then expressed his gratitude and said, “Thank you, Sir,". It was the fifth time in his career in the longest format that he had scored more than 150 runs and had leveled Graeme Smith's record for smashing the most centuries before the age of 24.
If he had scored a double ton, then it would have been his 3rd in this format, as he had smashed double tons twice last year as well against England.
Shubman Gill Show In Delhi
And just when Jaiswal was dismissed at the start of day 2, Gill's concentration wasn't affected much as he dominated the match throughout.
When the visitors change the field setting, Gill would try to go big. And if Chase went offside, Gill would play onside.
And when the boundaries were smashed continuously, Chase kept a deep point and deep square leg to stop the boundaries. Gill still took singles and doubles with the help of wide gaps.
