India skipper Rohit Sharma has categorically rejected the media reports of him meeting with chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Rahul Dravid to discuss the T20 World Cup 2024 squad. According to the leading news daily, the trio had met in Mumbai for a two-hour-long interaction where they discussed the combination of the Indian side for the T20 pinnacle.

Additionally, different reports are claiming that 10 members of the squad have been finalised as the remaining five spots face stiff competition. The report also added that Hardik Pandya's inclusion in the team will be based on his bowling while the discussion on Virat Kohli and Rohit's opening for the ICC tournament is also going on.

Dismissing all such stories, Rohit said 'everything is fake' and made up as Agarkar and Dravid are spending leisure time at different locations.

"I haven't met anyone. Ajit Agarkar is somewhere in Dubai playing golf and Rahul Dravid is actually watching his kids play in Bengaluru," Rohit told Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist on the Club Prairie Fire podcast.

"He [Dravid] was in Mumbai but he got him [the son] to play on a red-soil wicket at CCI. That's about it. We haven't met, to be honest. I think in today's day and age, unless you hear it from either myself or Rahul himself or Ajit himself or someone from BCCI coming and talking in front of the camera, everything is fake," he added.

The BCCI is expected to announce India's squad for the T20 World Cup in the first week of May. There are some questions that need to be answered before going to the West Indies and the USA. With the ongoing edition of the IPL 2024 in the country, it is expected that players performing well in the tournament will get rewarded with a T20 World Cup spot. However, backing new players over seasoned talents for the big tournament will remain a question.

Rishabh Pant, Riyan Parag, Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shivam Dube, Mayank Yadav, and Abhishek Sharma among others are in the fray for T20 World Cup selection on the basis of their current performance in the IPL 2024.
