India captain Rohit Sharma has started gearing up for the forthcoming home Test series against England, starting on Thursday, January 25 in Hyderabad. The opening batter hit the nets and sweated out in the batting session to prepare for the English challenge.

India will host England for the five-Test series, scheduled to be played across five venues in the country. Rohit-led India recently whitewashed Afghanistan 3-0 in the T20I series. The right-handed batter returned to the T20I side after a gap of more than 14 months along with Virat Kohli.

Rohit's Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians shared the pictures of his net session on X, ahead of the start of home Tests.

Before facing Afghanistan in the T20Is, the Indian team travelled to South Africa for the all-format tour. Men in Blue won the ODI series 2-1 while the T20I and Test series ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the Tests against South Africa, Rohit's top score was 39 which came in the first innings of the second Test as India won the match by seven wickets amid debate on Cape Town's pitch.

Rohit has played 54 Tests for India since making his debut in 2013 and scored 3737 runs at an average of 45.57 including 10 centuries and 16 fifties.

Rohit has a fine record against England, scoring 747 runs in 17 innings and nine Tests at an average of 49.80, with two centuries and three fifties. His best score is 161.

The Indian skipper is impeccable in Indian conditions, having scored 2,002 runs in 24 Tests at an average of 66.73, with eight centuries and six fifties in 36 innings. His best score is 212.

During England's last tour to India back in 2021, Rohit scored 345 runs in four Tests at an average of 57.50, with a century and fifty in seven innings. His best score was 161.

After a string of two consecutive ducks, the Mumbai batter slammed 69-ball 121* studded with eight sixes and 11 fours to return to form as India won the final T20I against Afghanistan in a double Super Over thriller in Bengaluru.
