IND vs NAM T20 World Cup 2026: The hosts are fretting over the fitness of another player of the ongoing mega event. Post players like Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, and Jasprit Bumrah, star opener Abhishek Sharma has been hospitalised.
Abhishek was suffering from an infection after experiencing a fever. In the first match against the USA, he was reeling with a high fever but still opened the innings and got out on a duck.
He didn't field in the second innings and was also not part of India’s dug-out.
The report also revealed that Abhishek was put on a drip to give him instant relief.
Abhishek also didn't attend the training session on Tuesday, as they will face Namibia during their second match.
“Abhi (Abhishek) still has a few issues with his tummy. We are hopeful that he’ll be available for the game in two days," India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said.
“We’re waiting on Abhi’s fitness more than anything, and that will again open up a few different combinations," he added.
In positive news, India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be back in action on Thursday when they take on Namibia. Bumrah sat out of the USA game due to being unwell.
“Booms (Bumrah) will bowl today (Tuesday) as well. He’s been what, ten days without bowling, but he’s feeling a lot better and moving a lot better. So we’ll see how training goes today and tomorrow and then put the team together on Thursday," Ten Doeschate said.
Meanwhile, Sundar has linked up with the India squad in New Delhi, having been cleared by the BCCI after recovering from a rib injury.
