IND vs SA 2nd Test: India skipper Shubman Gill will be undergoing a fitness test before the second Test against South Africa, which will be held in Guwahati. He was rushed to a hospital as he had injured his neck in the series opener, which the host lost by 30 runs within three days.
As per PTI, Gill, who will be travelling with the Men in Blue to Guwahati for the second match, gave a training session a miss on Thursday and will be undergoing a fitness test on Friday.
Gill had faced just three balls in the first innings of the series opener and then had to retire hurt owing to a neck spasm. He was rushed to a hospital in Kolkata.
He didn't play in the remaining part of the match.
The BCCI had then provided an official update on his recovery.
“Shubman has been responding well to the medical treatment provided and will travel to Guwahati with the team on 19th November, 2025. He will continue to be monitored by the BCCI medical team and a decision on his participation in the 2nd Test will be taken accordingly", a statement released by BCCI said.

Series On The Line
The plans of playing on a rank turner in Kolkata didn't work in the host's favour as the Temba Bavuma-led side is leading by 1-0 as the host, who were playing with nine batters, failed to chase 124 runs. Gill's absence was really felt by the host as they were skittled out for 93 runs.
The Shubman Gill-led side had lost their 4th Test match at home, and that has ruined their image of home domination. All eyes will now be on Guwahati's pitch, which is still an unknown zone.
It's the first time that a Test match will be held in Guwahati, and it has become the 30th such venue in this country.
