India vs Sri Lanka, Asia Cup 2025: World No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma etched his name in the annals of cricket history as he shattered the record for the most runs in a single edition of the Asia Cup T20Is.
Abhishek achieved the feat during India's innings against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, surpassing Pakistan batter Mohammad Rizwan's record for most runs in a single Asia Cup T20I edition.
The stylish batter required just 34 runs to surpass Rizwan's tally. He reached the mark in style during the 5th over, with Sri Lanka opting to field first after losing the toss.
Rizwan earlier held the record of 281 runs in the 2022 Asia Cup. With 282 runs in six matches, Abhishek now holds the top spot for most runs in a single Asia Cup T20I edition.
Abhishek Sharma surged past Mohammad Rizwan's record with a boundary off Dushmantha Chameera's over. Now, another notable milestone awaits Abhishek as he needs just 52 more runs to become the first batter to score 300 runs in a single Asia Cup T20I edition.
