Mumbai Indians play-offs qualification scenario, IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians have had a disappointing campaign so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and the situation remained the same for them in their last match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

MI suffered a 24-run defeat against KKR at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday, losing their eighth match of this season as they stand on the verge of getting eliminated.

After losing an IPL match against KKR at their home venue for the first time in 12 years, MI remained ninth in the standings as they have just three wins and six points after 11 matches.

Starting their IPL 2024 campaign against Gujarat Titans, MI have only won their matches against Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings.

While the five-time champions are close to getting eliminated from the playoffs race, they still have a realistic chance to finish in the top four.

Playoffs qualification scenario for Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians, who lost their previous fixture against KKR, will need to win all of their remaining matches, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), KKR and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to stay in contention.

The Hardik Pandya-led side then will need to hope that both LSG and SRH lose their respective remaining matches in the tournament which leaves their points tally at 12, the same as Mumbai.

Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals, who both have 10 points each, should not get more than one win in their remaining games.

The seventh-placed Punjab Kings and eighth-placed Gujarat Titans cannot get more than two wins.

As per the much-needed scenario for MI, all the teams will have 12 points each and the net run rate will come into play.

While the chances of all the conditions falling into place are very low, Mumbai Indians despite winning their remaining matches with impressive net run rate couldn't promise them the playoff spot.

MI headed into the 17th edition of the IPL on the back of a fourth-place finish last season and headed massive change into their setup as Hardik Pandya was named as their new captain.

They will be up against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, May 6.
