SRH vs CSK, IPL 2024: Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in match 18 of the IPL 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday, April 5.

This was SRH's second win of the season as they jumped to the fifth spot in the points table with four points under their belt.

After the match, former Australian cricketer hailed Pat Cummins for his incredible style of leadership, drawing parallels with former CSK captain MS Dhoni.

Moody's interesting remarks came after Cummins put up a remarkable display of captaincy against CSK, making impactful bowling changes, adapting to the pitch conditions and executing their plans as a team accordingly.

"Pat would do that seamlessly because that is the 'bloke' he is. He is a good person. He would do that naturally because of his natural leadership," said Moody after SRH's six-wicket win at home.

Moody lauded Cummins' tactics as the captain, comparing it to that of MS Dhoni for strategising continuously as per the situations in the match.

He mentioned Cummins' decision to give the opening over to left-arm spinner Abhishek Sharma during the CSK clash as an example of his brilliant and impactful moves.

"Tactically, as captain or not, he has played enough to understand and navigate how to captain in a T20 game. One thing I like about Cummins is that he is like MS Dhoni, he is prepared to make decisions that other people do not think about," said Mood while praising Cummins' leadership.

Reflecting on Cummins' decision to give the opening over of the match to Abhishek, Moody added: "It was quite an odd decision considering you had arguably the best new-ball bowler in IPL history and Aiden Markram. There were plenty of ways that he could have started the inning, but he committed to his decision."

Notably, Abhishek conceded just seven runs in the first over and laid the foundation of a disciplined bowling performance before unleashing a fiery knock with the bat while chasing.

Cummins, who has had a memorable few months as the captain of Australia with Ashes win and WTC and World Cup titles under his belt, was named as the new captain of SRH as he replaced Markram for the role.

Despite opting out from IPL last season being a KKR player, Cummins went on to get big in the auction as he became the second most expensive player in the history of the tournament with SRH bagging his services for a whopping price of INR 20.5 rore.
