India's U19 World Cup 2024 star Musheer Khan displayed his talent as he made history on Tuesday by slamming a remarkable 255-ball century at the Wankhede Stadium during the Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha. This extraordinary feat saw him become the youngest Mumbai batter to achieve a century in the Ranji Trophy final, surpassing the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

In a match where Mumbai had taken a 119-run lead in the first innings, Musheer, along with skipper Ajinkya Rahane, stepped up to the challenge after the early dismissals of openers Prithvi Shaw and Bhupen Lelwani. Overnight, they took the score to 141 for two, with both batsmen securing their half-centuries.

On Day 3, Musheer continued to pile on the runs alongside Shreyas Iyer after the departure of Rahane, eventually reaching his second First-Class century in just three matches during the 90th over. His stellar performance follows his remarkable achievement in the quarterfinal match against Baroda, where he converted his maiden First-Class century into a double hundred, becoming the second-youngest Mumbai player to achieve this milestone, behind Wasim Jaffer.

At the age of 19 years and 14 days, Musheer has now surpassed Tendulkar's record as the youngest Mumbai player to score a century in the Ranji final. Tendulkar, a month shy of his 22nd birthday, had achieved this feat with twin hundreds in the 1994-95 season final against Punjab.

Mumbai, with their illustrious history in the Ranji Trophy, are on the verge of claiming their 42nd title in their 48th final, showcasing their dominance in Indian domestic cricket. On the other hand, Vidarbha, playing in their third Ranji final, have previously won the title in successive seasons between 2017 and 2019.

The Khan family's remarkable journey continues, with Musheer's brother Sarfaraz earning his maiden Test cap and Musheer himself representing India in the Under-19 World Cup 2024 in South Africa, where he emerged as the second-highest run-scorer for India, amassing 360 runs at an impressive average of 60.00.
