Mumbai Indians worked out of the blocks, posting the slowest run rate in the first six overs with their opening partnership averaging just over 20.
Sajana's early wicket only aggravated the slow start, prompting memories of past struggles. The RCB bowlers, led by Bell, clamped down on the scoring, restricting MI to 38/1 at the Powerplay.
