Bangladesh have been bowled out for 204/10 in 45.1 overs as Wasim clinched his third scalp to return with the figures of 3-31. Shaheen Shah Afridi also bagged three wickets while Haris Rauf dismissed two scalps respectively.

Pakistan choked the outflow of runs in the last 5 overs. Babar Azam went for more attcking field to insert the pressure on the new batter Shakib. The trick paid off with Shaheen Afridi being brought back into the attack. Bangladesh have to try something differenty to get out of their shell.

Both the batters paced their innings to perfectiion, stitching a 70+ runs stand after getting strangled to 23/3 earlier. Litton Das eventually got out for 45 runs in 64 balls, giving an easy catch at short mid-wicket.

Mahmudullah and Litton Das are steadily forging a strong partnership in the middle, milking easy runs against the Pakistani bowlers. While Pakistan had a promising start, they are now striving to regain control of the match.

"We would also like to bat first. There might be some swing in it early on because there is some moisture in it. Last match we were good in all three departments. There was some good energy. I am also waiting for a big innings, I will try to convert into a hundred. Three changes, Imam, Shadab and Nawaz out. Fakhar, Salman and Usama in."

"We will bat first, looks like a dry wicket, we played the last game here, it was slow and there was turn. We have nothing to lose, we have to play well in the first 10 overs and hopefully we can go from there. We haven’t been consistent enough, we have been doing bits and pieces but haven’t performed collectively and that has been disappointing. There isn’t much difference between in here and Dhaka in terms of culture so hopefully we will have some good support."

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first against Pakistan in Match 31 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Babar Azam will have to put out his A game to get past Bangladesh. However, the Pakistan skipper hasn't been at his best in the World Cup so far. He has just 207 runs to his name in five innings. He started with a low run of scores in the first two matches but scored three fifties in the next four innings.

"It is nice to know that his birthday is on the 5th of November. Wish him all the best and a happy birthday, though I don't celebrate mine and I don't believe in that. Wishing a great one to Virat. I hope he can get his 49th ODI hundred on his birthday. And I wish him that he could also get his 50th ODI century in this World Cup."

"I think more than me, the whole team talked about what we need to do. There is a lot to play for. As you know, we have to win to be able to qualify for the Champions Trophy," Shakib Al Hasan said.

"That’s an important target I think we can set at this moment and to do that we have to win. We have no other options and that’s what we would look to do," he added.

Pakistan and Bangladesh have met 38 times in ODIs. Pakistan have the upper hand, having won 33 times with Bangladesh winning just five matches. The two sides have faced off just twice in the ODI World Cups with both teams winning a match each.

Bangladesh lost by 87 runs against the Netherlands in Kolkata

Pakistan after winning the first two matches to start their World Cup campaign on a high, lost the way after losing the all-important match against India as they suffered defeats against Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa.

On the other hand, the story has been even worse for Bangladesh have managed just one win in six matches so far which came against Afghanistan earlier in the tournament.
