President of India, Droupadi Murmu, hosted the members of the ICC Women’s World Cup-winning Indian women’s cricket team at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday.

During the meeting, India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur presented the President with a team jersey signed by all the players.

India claimed their first-ever global crown in women's cricket by beating South Africa by 52 runs in the 50-over World Cup final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday, a milestone juncture for the sport in a cricket-loving country.

President Murmu hailed the team on their historic accomplishment, expressing that the players had not only created history but also become inspirational figures for today's youth.

"Members of the Indian Women's Cricket team, winners of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President congratulated the team and said that they have created history and have become role models for the younger generation," the official handle of the President of India wrote on X.

"She said that this team reflects India. They represent different regions, different social backgrounds, different circumstances but they are one Team — India,” it further added.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team had an interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence at Lok Kalyan Marg. During the felicitation ceremony, PM Modi hailed the Women in Blue, who were dressed in smart formal clothing and wore winner's medals around their necks.

PM Modi also spoke with the players and support staff members in a group interaction, during which the team presented him with a signed Indian team jersey, bearing the name 'Namo 1'.
