RR vs LSG IPL 2025: Ex-India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has reckoned that the reason behind the small delay before Avesh Khan bowled the last over against RR, affected the batters' rhythm and ensured that they don't chase down the target and emphasized that Rishabh Pant's delaying strategies, which worked in the team's favor once again. LSG defeated RR by a narrow margin of two runs on the back of Avesh's brilliant performance during the last over on Saturday.
Kaif revealed that Pant's delaying strategies against the Rajasthan-based franchise were the same as the one he executed against South Africa during the summit clash of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
“The final over began at 11:07 PM IST and it went on for 10 minutes, where there were some intentional delaying tactics. Rishabh Pant took his time, the ball got changed, Avesh Khan was stopped in his run-up once, they intentionally kept the batters waiting at the crease," Kaif was quoted as saying on his official X account.

“Also, this is not the first time this has happened. In the 2024 T20 World Cup final, when 30 runs were needed off 30 balls and when Klaasen and Miller were on strike, it was Rishabh Pant only who lay down on the floor to summon the physios," he added.
Pant revealed that after India had won the 2024 T20 World Cup he had faked his injury to stop South Africa's run flow in the chase.
Pant was seen falling on the ground before the 13th over in LSG's close win against KKR.
Fast bowler Avesh Khan bowled brilliantly during the death overs and helped the visitors win the nail-biting thriller by two runs against Rajasthan Royals.
The hosts were 156/2 after the 17th over and needed just 25 runs to win the match with eight wickets remaining.
But Avesh then leaked five runs during the 18th over and also picked two wickets of Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal and then successfully defended nine runs during the last over and registered match-winning figures of 3/37.
The Rishabh Pant-led side will lock horns with Delhi Capitals during their next IPL match in Lucknow.
