Indian team announced their final squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 with the veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin making the headlines as he replaced the injured all-rounder Axar Patel in the squad for the tournament.

Ashwin made his return to the ODI format nearly after five years and was included in the squad for the three-match series at home against Australia.

Former Indian cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishan has revealed that he got a phone call from Ashwin to have a conversation about his bowling action and also made a few controversial comments about the off-spinner.

The whole sequence started with the former cricketer discussing about the commentary team on social media for the World Cup and how there was no genuine spinner in the setup. He then turned it towards India's struggles against spin, making some comments on Ashwin.

Sivaramakrishnan took to social media to call the willy off-spinner “fool” and “unfit”.The former spinner attacked Ashwin on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying that the off-spinner has managed to take so many wickets in India because the pitches were ‘doctored to favor him’.

“Indian batsman are struggling against spin because the pitches in India are doctored for Ashwin in Test matches. Look at his record in SENA Countries,” Sivaramakrishnan posted.

Sivaramakrishnan, later claimed that he received a call from Ashwin himself. During this conversation, the off-spinner reportedly discussed his bowling action and expressed his shock at the unnecessary response from trolls towards Sivaramakrishnan's comments.

"Ravi Ashwin was nice enough to call me just a while ago to discuss his bowling action, he was as shocked with the venom of the trolls as I was. Also clarified that the people involved are in NO WAY connected to him. GOOD LUCK @ashwinravi99. Do us proud," Sivaramakrishanan wrote on X.

Ashwin remains a constant player in India's setup for the ICC tournaments even in the white ball format despite not being a regular in the shorter formats but went on to play the last T20 World Cups as well.
